I wanted to share some books that I have been reading recently by Malcolm Gladwell. I started with his most famous book Outliers, which I read in about two days. It is phenomenal. He argues that all extremely successful people must have circumstances that allow them access to a specific craft or opportunity, then they must practice it for 10,000 hours. I was thinking about my own guitar playing and how much I practice per week, and figured out that I will be a master guitar play when I am 53 years old. I can't wait!.

The next book I read of his was What the Dog Saw. This is a compilation of his best writing for the New Yorker. I found it very enjoyable, but not as much as Outliers.

The third book I am currently reading by Malcolm Gladwell is called Blink. It's thesis is that our decisions we make in a split second are often just as good as ones we make when we think things over. It argues that we have a "locked down" in our conscious that offers insight and knowledge that we cannot comprehend or even access. This is blowing me away, but I am only about half way through the book, so we'll see how the next chapter is when he discusses when our instincts do not help us make good decisions.  Either way, I love this author, and look forward to reading his second most famous book Tipping Point.

I was recently accepted to Salem State University's Graduate Program for Special Education (Moderate Disabilities Grades 5-12).

I am very excited to be accepted into the program, and be studying for the next year at Salem State University.
